Which Book?

I love islands, I think I always have, but I wouldn’t want to be stranded on one… Oh, maybe for a few weeks perhaps.  I’d want to find a way off because there’s something in the human spirit that seeks companionship.  In the Christian — the passionate Christian — there is yet one more instinct, and that is a yearning of the soul to tell others about the love of Christ and his redeeming act. Philip Yancey said that if he were ever “stranded on a desert island…and could choose only one book apart from the Bible, I may well select Chesterton’s own spiritual autobiography, Orthodoxy.”  As for Chesterton, when he was asked the same question, his response was, “a book on how to build a boat.”  I’m with Chesterton.  Many of us need to find a way off of our own self-imposed islands and out into the world with the message God gave us to tell.
