Living In a Postmodern Age

Living in a postmodern church-age is not easy when it comes to challenging the charge that “God is dead.” Based upon recent Barna research nearly two-fifths of the nation’s adult population (37%) qualifies as post-Christian. It’s interesting to observe the same old struggles of doubt and faith resurfacing within a new generation. We lay Christianity aside only to find that it truly is the only satisfying answer to life’s struggles. Often the answer is sought in the field of science and the power of reason.

Robert Jastrow, an agnostic and former Chief of NASA, was convinced that the creation account was backed by science when he wrote his book God and the Astronomer. Here’s what he had to say:

“For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the Power of Reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the final peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.”
